First of all, the MacOS bar does everything you mentioned ubar does. You can preview, apps are grouped by default, you can close any running app, etc.

Second, if you talk productivity, the only way to be productive on a platform is to discover and learn what it can do before trying to replicate the tooling and how things were done on a different platform, just for the sake of familiarity and avoiding learning.
