“New York literally applied for this” — did it? The opposition came from politicians who decided to speak for those potentially affected. The application for Amazon HQ also came from politicians. Who’s NY in this sentence? Still … the politicians.

“without considering that most New Yorkers actually wanted Amazon here” — really? Is there some “by the statistics rule” poll available? Or any other indication. What people have seen was that there were new-yorkers on both sides. Both sides claimed “majority”.

“Shouldn’t community leaders have lead these conversations instead?” — that’s the rub. Anybody asked community leaders in the areas to be affected? Some appeared on TV and voices various opinions.
