Well, you call it pedantic but I would say it's important to use language in a way that actually allows people to communicate efficiently.

It's true particularly for people with formal education in software engineering / information technology or any field really where you see people misusing technical terms. Sure, they're "used interchangeably" by some people but that doesn't make it correct or acceptable (lots of people use Covid-19 interchangeably for the name of the virus causing it, try doing that with a bunch of virologists - they're going to eventually get your meaning but you've still managed to annoy the hell out of them).
